We all want to end child poverty. But progress is slow, and the way we talk about it doesn’t always help. That’s why Save the Children and the Joseph Rowntree Foundation came together to explore how we can change the story. Over the last two years, they have listened to a wide range of people and tested different ways to talk about child poverty.

The evidence gathered through this work has been brought together in the guide, The New Story of Child Poverty in Scotland. At this webinar, participants will learn about the new story - what it is, how it works, and why it matters. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions and explore how to use it in practice, so that they can be part of changing the story and building a better future for all children.

Ben Thurman

Ben works for Save the Children where he leads the Changing the Story project. For the last three years, he has overseen research and message testing, and worked with people with lived experience, to create a new story of child poverty that campaigners can use to build public support for change.

Ben has worked in civil society in Scotland for over 10 years, on issues including care, loneliness and isolation, poverty and the wellbeing economy. He is passionate about investing in relationships and networks to build a collective voice for change.
