Reproductive and Abortion Rights in Scotland - Why We Need To Change The Act
Join HRCS and Jill Wood from Engender for a webinar exploring reproductive and abortion rights in Scotland.
Let’s change the Act is a coalition of almost 60 organisations calling for the protection of reproductive rights in Scotland. Our legal framework for abortion care is in urgent need of modernisation – we need a system that is based on international health standards and is compliant with human rights. The rise of anti-rights groups and attacks in recent years pose a profound threat to abortion rights in Scotland. We need to act now to safeguard women’s health and reproductive rights.
The presentation will be followed by a Q&A, providing an opportunity for attendees to ask questions and explore the issues raised during the session.

About the speaker
Jill Wood is Policy Manager for Engender, where she has worked on feminist research and advocacy since 2012. Her areas of expertise include abortion and reproductive rights, women’s financial insecurity, gender mainstreaming, and international human rights reporting.
Looking ahead
We are hoping to explore the UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) and its relevance to women’s rights in Scotland in a future HRCS webinar in 2027, once the current CEDAW review and reporting process has progressed further.
