Membership of the Consortium is open to all civil society organisations who want to defend and promote human rights in Scotland. Individuals can also be part of the Consortium.
Benefits of being a member include:
- Monthly e-newsletters with information about headlines, updates and events around human rights in Scotland
- Invitations to members’ meetings and other events on key human rights issues
- Opportunities to access training, resources and projects
- The opportunity to vote at our AGM (for organisational members)
Most of all, being a member of the Consortium adds your voice to defending and promoting human rights in Scotland.
There are two core categories of membership to Human Rights Consortium Scotland:
- Organisational members (who have voting rights) who must be non-governmental, non-party-political and not-for-profit
- Individual members (who do not have voting rights)
Membership is free. However, if you are able to support our work, we greatly appreciate donations.
All members must:
- Commit to acting compatibly with HRCS’ mission to promote and defend human rights in Scotland; the principles enshrined in the Universal Declaration on Human Rights (UDHR) and; broader human rights treaties
- To work positively and constructively with other members to defend and promote human rights in Scotland
- To treat Consortium staff and other Consortium members with dignity and respect
- Not to speak on behalf of the Consortium without consulting Consortium staff first
- Not to take any action which may bring the Consortium into disrepute
- Be based and/or operate in Scotland (for organisational members only)
