HRCS appoints new permanent Director

We are very pleased to be able to share news of the appointment or our new permanent Director, Charlie McMillan. Charlie seamlessly stepped in as Interim Director last September and has wonderfully steered the helm of the organisation through a period of transition and change. We are thrilled to see him carry on as our permanent Director and build on the great work he has helped the organisation to achieve so far.

Some words from Charlie on his appointment:

‘Following the last few months of working at the Human Rights Consortium Scotland on a temporary basis, I am delighted to have been appointed as the organisation’s Director. I am really looking forward to developing our work in partnership with the Board of Trustees, our highly dedicated team and our members. There is still so much work to be done to realise people’s human rights in Scotland. Infringements and abuses are still all to common for so many people and we need to ensure that HRCS is listening to our members, highlighting the concerns raised and challenging those in power to proactively address the many challenges people face. HRCS’s independence is central to this mission and we need to work hard to maintain this. Together we can make a difference.’

The board and staff team all extend our warm welcomes to Charlie in his new role, and look forward to the exciting work ahead.

‘We’re delighted to confirm the appointment of Charlie as the new permanent Director of HRCS. Charlie brings over 25 years’ experience in senior leadership roles across the charity and social care sectors, with a strong track record of delivering cultural and strategic change. He is deeply committed to advancing social justice and human rights and brings significant expertise in influencing public policy. His energy and passion for HRCS’s mission make him a fantastic appointment, and we’re excited to welcome him into the role.’

Aidan Collins, Chair of the Board
