A Migrant’s Guide to Scotland – Your Human Rights in a Different Country 

The launch of A Migrant’s Guide to Scotland – Your Human Rights in a Different Country was marked by two events that brought together participants, partners, and contributors to celebrate the release of the booklet.  

An online launch held on 31 March 2026 introduced the resource and shared key insights from the Migrants Participation Project. The session was chaired by Tom Black (HRCS), with an overview of the project and the development of the booklet presented by Esraa Husain (HRCS). The session also featured a speaker from Migrant Voice, Nazek Ramadan, who shared reflections on migrant participation and the importance of accessible, rights-based resources.

In-person launch in Glasgow – 7 April 2026

The in-person launch took place at The Boardwalk in Glasgow, creating a space for connection, reflection, and shared celebration.

The event opened with welcome remarks from Charlie McMillan (HRCS), followed by an introduction to the project by Esraa Husain (HRCS), who shared an overview of the Migrants Participation Project and the development of the booklet.

The speaker session featured Sofi Taylor (The Advisory Group), who reflected on the importance of migrant participation in shaping the booklet and shared personal insights from their involvement.

Creative contributions were also a key part of the event. Malini Chakraborty spoke about the illustrations and visual storytelling behind the booklet, offering insight into the creative process.

The programme concluded with a poetry reading by Sadia Sikandar, bringing a personal and reflective perspective on migration, identity, and belonging.

The event brought together a wide range of voices and experiences, reinforcing the importance of participation, collaboration, and lived experience in advancing human rights. Attendees also had the opportunity to connect with one another and receive printed copies of the booklet.
