Human Rights Consortium Scotland

The Human Rights Consortium Scotland is the civil society network which exists to defend and promote human rights in Scotland.

With over nearly 500 network members from across civil society, we work together to build the capacity of civil society organisations and individual human rights defenders to promote and defend peoples’ human rights and produce information, insights, projects and research on specific human rights issues and around the development and implementation policy and law.

Human rights in Scotland and the UK are at a critical point, with increased interest and understanding of human rights, whilst at the same time, many people living without realisation of their rights. There are both threats to human rights legal protections, and opportunities to make human rights law in Scotland stronger and more effective.

In line with our new Constitution, we want to increase and strengthen the Consortium’s Board to respond to, and navigate, the challenges and opportunities that we face.

Role

We are looking for HRCS members who wish to become Trustees. As a Trustee, you will help us shape the organisation to strengthen its human rights-focus, with excellent governance and strategic priorities.
