About this Session

To launch our new Members-Only Guest Lecture Series, we reflect on a milestone in the UK’s human rights history - 25 years since the Human Rights Act came into force.

This first session will explore what the HRA has meant for Scotland, how the human rights landscape has evolved, and where we go next. We will also share HRCS’s current strategy, priorities, and how membership supports and shapes our work in this new phase as a Tier 2 SCIO.

Whether you’re a long-standing member or new to the Consortium, this is your opportunity to reconnect, reflect and re-engage.

Speakers

Charlie McMillan, Director, Human Rights Consortium Scotland (Chairing the session).

“Charlie McMillan is the Director of the Human Rights Consortium Scotland, Scotland’s civil society network organisation and human rights defender. HRCS promotes human rights awareness, compliance and incorporation.

Charlie trained as a social worker and has worked in wide range of roles across the Scottish voluntary/charity sector during his career. He joined the Human Rights Consortium in September 2024.

Charlie is a co-chair of the Scottish National Action Plan for Human Rights Leadership Panel (SNAP 2).”
