150 Campaigners Urge First Minister: Take Bold Action on Poverty

A group of over 150 civil society organisations, trade unions, individual campaigners and community groups, including the Consortium, have united to urge First Minister Humza Yousaf to take action on poverty in his new Programme for Government.

Their letter, drafted by Poverty Alliance, urges the First Minister to fulfil the "defining mission of [his] leadership" by taking concrete action to reduce poverty. It recommends 8 policy actions which the Scottish Government could commit to, including delivering a Minimum Income Guarantee, funding social housing, and securing the right to food for everyone in Scotland.

The First Minister's Programme for Government will set out the Government's priorities for the year ahead, and is expected to be published in September.
