The Consortium Issues Briefing to New cohort of MSPs

HRCS has today written to all Members of the Scottish Parliament elected in May 2026, sharing a briefing on our role, priorities and vision for human rights in Scotland over the course of the new parliamentary session.

The briefing introduces MSPs to our work and highlights a number of key priorities for 2026–2031, including:

• The introduction of a Human Rights (Scotland) Bill
• Greater access to justice
• The implementation of Scotland’s National Human Rights Action Plan (SNAP 2)
• Strengthening human rights-based approaches across public services and public policy
• Supporting civil society and human rights defenders to influence decision-making

Human rights have the power to improve everyday life, strengthen democracy and help tackle inequality and discrimination. We look forward to working constructively with MSPs from across the Scottish Parliament over the coming years to advance these shared goals.
