58 Organisations Write to First Minister on Human Rights Day
58 Organisations Write to First Minister on Human Rights Day
To mark Human Rights Day 2023, the Consortium and 58 other organisations have signed a joint letter to First Minister Humza Yousaf.
Organisations working in communities across Scotland have united to urge the First Minister to take progressive measures to make all our rights a reality, and reiterate our firm commitment to human rights being better protected, respected and realised for all in Scotland.
The letter also commends the commitment of the Scottish Government to introduction of a Human Rights Bill for Scotland in 2024, and highlights three chief concerns related to the Bill which we all share:
- The Bill that is introduced must be as strong as possible, and go as far as possible, within the devolution settlement.
- The Bill must lead to progressive and positive change.
- The Scottish Government must take steps to broaden the scope of the Bill as far as possible.
